TRAINING ON COMBATTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) continues its work on the prevention of violence against women and the empowerment of women within the framework of strong cooperation with local governments. In line with this purpose, the training, which provided information protection measures for women under the risk of violence and exposed to violence, was held on April 13, 2022 at WALD Küçükçekmece Social Protection (SPD).

In the training given by WALD Social Protection Desk Lawyer Cenk BALSU; Violence Against Women, Domestic Violence and its Types (physical, economic, sexual, psychological, etc.) were discussed, what kind of rights women have in Turkey, the right to education and training, immunity of the person, material and spiritual existence, freedom of residence and travel, religion. and freedom of conscience, freedom of thought and opinion, right of property, prohibition of forced labor, freedom of communication, freedom of work and contract were emphasized.

Lawyer Cenk BALSU emphasized the importance of breaking the cycle of violence in a timely manner in order to prevent the escalation and continuation of violence, and also emphasized the ways of combating violence and the empowerment of women. In the program, participants were informed about the Law No. 6284 on the Protection of the Family and the Prevention of Violence Against Women. Also, Women's Support Application (KADES), 112 Emergency Call Center, 183 Ministry of Family and Social Policies and 155 Police Helplines were shared, and information was shared about the application procedure to the District Governor's Office, the Governor's Office, the Prosecutor's Office and the Family Court.
